Ver 0.1.6 (Alpha Demo Release)
Hi all my favorite Digital Bits out there.
EightBits here with an update.
Game - Ver 0.1.6 (NEW ALPHA DEMO IS OUT)
This update includes a new Alpha Demo. This is the 3rd Alpha rendition of the game. With luck this will also be the last Alpha. I'm hoping with the next major update will come the first of the Betas.
*Help Menu is not working, if you hit ESC it turns the screen black - pauses game. Hit ESC again to un-pause.
**GAME**
- *Major Point* Checkpoint system has been added (not full save) The lamp post turns on when checkpoint used.
- 1 Major level and a minor level completed
**Menus**
- Menu and Story updated with Alpha Version demo #
- End Menu updated with acknowledgements
**Sprites**
- Designed a few dead hero's to be named after people
- Red Carpet sprites w/ different angles
- Visual Assets (wood desk, toilet, bookcase, bookcase wheel, bed, vanity cabinets, bathtub)
- checkpoint light post created (fame 0 and frame 1)
- Wall Scroll added
- Sign post at start added
- Fallen Hero's (Supporters / Play Testers) created and placed in game.
**Enemies**
- clean up a few animations
- collision mask updated
**Player Enhancements**
- Shield does not crash if energy is used up
- Shield is on a 0.10 percent on the drain of the energy
- Collision with a checkpoint entered
**Map - Level**
- Floor 2
- Levels 0, 1, 1b, 1b boss completed
- Level 2a - inital wall tiles
- Level 2a - completed floor tiles (4836 tiles manually placed)
- Level 2a - 93 Torches and Light Sources added
- Level 2a - Wall Collision put in place.
- L2 Visual Assets, breakables, currency all added
- L2a - Enemies needing path have been linked.
** BUGS / Mechanics issues / Suggestions***
- Game Controller Support
- Light surface is blocking help menu sequence.
- Collison on player - Player immune from after 1st hit (avoids double strike by bats for instant kill)
- save feature (working on checkpoint)
- escape menu (conflicts with light system)
- level completion speed run
- Game - volume control
- Torches in room 0 (flame is moving quickly) need to slow it down
- Text clip on browser version
- chest random items
- layer on bottom of level 1 for walls is lower than the player
- visual aspect on potions
- all doors need an opened sprite image.
- obj_desk_stone (give story note)
- Breakable objects w/ random items
- Barrel and or enemy will drop the key.
- doors that open by hitting E
- health potion needs a sound effect
- show score between levels
- place roof tile over door walkways (like in 02 center room)
- torches in level 1, need added to the light source.
- desk on level 1 needs collision set.
- gate at end of room 1, needs vertical image

** FIXED BUGS / added in from suggestions / mechanic updates**
- chest on lvl 1 opens w/ wrong image and location
- chest opening need coin noise
- chest not giving correct coin (2)
- DEATH causing an Abort Game error
- remove the obj_ooze_follow
- Switch not lining up correctly
- spr_switch_floor is off set, change to middle
shield 100% drain causes crash
- ad this with to obj_player - step event in front of instance_destroy
with(obj_energy_shield)
- created red health potion that fully restores your health.
- barrel_small_coin needs a coin
- Key chest not giving coin value
- death did not restart (on lvl 1)
- Need text boxes drawn to the GUI layer
- pressing C causes an error
- Lever Animation for activation left to right.
- Make object for scroll.
- chest in room w/ key on other side of gate in room room 1b, needs to use empty sprite
- create door sprite to use with no frames
- wall paper scroll that can be read
spr_Scroll
- Attack on Slime
- bat sprite a bit smaller to fit through walkways
- big barrel drops coin.
- heart barrels in level 2
- potions in level 2
- assign keys to locked chest
- level 01B- player is teleporting into odd spot not where teleport says
- Shield needs lengthened a bit
- Drawing text boxes drawing at -575 (moved to GUI layer)
- visual for drinking red potion
- locked chest on level 1b, need coin value
- locked chest on level 1 (need coin value)
- - Checkpoints added will respawn at last checkpoint.
